Found in the tropical and temperate waters of all major oceans, the great white shark is one of the most iconic predators. They are exceptionally large, and on occasion can grow to be over 20 feet long and weigh over 4,000 pounds.

- Characteristics: Despite their massive size, great whites can still exceed speed of 35 miles per hour in a sprint. Like all Safari figurines, this model is a bounty of interesting and fun wildlife knowledge!
- Size and Color: 7 inches long and 3 inches wide, our great white shark figurine is a touch larger than a soda can on its side. Almost all sharks have white undersides alongside slate gray skin, which allows them to blend in to both the water’s surface and ocean floor simultaneously.

History:
Sadly, great white sharks are classified as vulnerable by the IUCN. Rough estimates place their population at about 3,500-4,000 individuals, although there is a lack of concrete data in relation to these numbers. Great white numbers are dropping not only because of habitat degradation and a loss of suitable prey, but also because they are targeted by fishermen for their jaws, teeth, and fins.
