FS644: Static-Tac® Adhesive
Static-Tac® is a specially formulated, high-viscosity adhesive designed to serve as the perfect base for Static Grass and Briar Patch. Its primary advantage over standard glues is its extended "open time"—it stays tacky longer, giving you the time needed to apply large areas of grass with a Static King® without the glue skinning over.
Why It’s Better Than Standard Glue
Optimized Viscosity: It is thick enough to hold 12mm fibers vertically but easy enough to spread smoothly over large meadows.
Superior Conductivity: Formulated to help the static charge reach the base of the fibers, ensuring a more consistent "stand-up" effect.
Clear Matte Finish: Once cured, it disappears completely. It won't leave a shiny "wet look" at the base of your grass, maintaining a realistic, earthy appearance.
Graduated Tip: The bottle features a precision tip that makes it easy to apply to tiny areas or run a bead along a fence line without a mess.
Large Volume: The 12 fl oz (354 mL) bottle provides enough coverage for significant sections of a model railroad or multiple large dioramas.
Scenic Application Guide
Preparation: Spread a thin, even layer of Static-Tac over your terrain using a brush or the applicator tip.
The Charge: For the best results, insert your grounding pin directly into a pool of Static-Tac. This creates the strongest circuit for your static applicator.
Application: Shake your static grass over the wet adhesive. The fibers will "snap" into the glue and stand upright.
Drying: Allow it to dry for 24 hours. Once fully set, you can use the Model-Vac® to reclaim any loose fibers.
The "Field System" Secret
If you find your grass is leaning or falling over after application, it’s usually because the glue dried too fast or was too thin. Static-Tac solves this by providing a "soft" landing zone that grips the fiber and holds it while the static charge pulls it vertical.
